The Art of the Score is a live music & film event that will allow musicians an opportunity to score a movie in front of a live audience in a competitive setting. The event will highlight the convergence between music and the moving image.... an experience combining music and cinema in a way that has never been done before. A LIVE movie scoring competition where the theme is honoring Melvin Van Peeples, the first Black Superhero! 3 contestants will score a 6-minute clip of Sweet Sweetback's Baaadaaasss Song. The winner of the scoring competition will be offered the opportunity to open one of the NYC Parks summer outdoor movie events and will be offered a development package with Independent Ear and Universal Music. Celebrity judges led by Hot 97's DJ Enuff decide the winner.
