Description

Conference Objectives!

Ensuring Global Economic Growth!

Although, after the unpalatable and historic economic meltdown (2008), global economy is on the path of recovery, it seems to be very slow. Reports indicate that policy makers and analysts have requested international cooperation in framing suitable macroeconomic policies in order to ensure stable and sustained growth. In this regard, it is quite interesting to note that G-20 forum has fixed a global growth target to aid and accelerate such an initiative. But the report further suggests that developed economies do not agree and resort to austerity measures. The good news, however, is that the microeconomic policy measures are working quite well. Far-reaching reform measures such as promoting competition and liberalization of trade, help heavy investments in infrastructure. Of course, expanding demand is crucial for global growth. Greater understanding and cooperation among countries will be very much required at this juncture.

Hurdles and problems to be fixed!

The world has many problems. Some are short-term and some are long-term. There is, of course, a stark difference between short-term and long-term economic problems. While short-term problems soften in a phased manner, long-term economic problems such as global inequality in income and standard of living, poverty, more particularly, in large part of Africa and select Asian economies, global warming and fast depletion of natural resources should be tackled with coordinated efforts and strategic approach by all the stakeholders, economists and global powers.

Against this backdrop, the upcoming conference in the beautiful city of Hong Kong makes an attempt to achieve the following objectives;

1) Providing an ideal platform for academicians, researchers and economists to share their research findings on ensuring global economic growth;

2) Identifying the most efficient ways in which global growth can be ensured for generating massive employment opportunities and entrepreneurship in different sectors so that people can be gainfully employed.

3) Ensuring that greater interaction among researchers lead to inter-disciplinary research in order to solve and tackle global economic problems; and

4) Suggesting suitable measures to ensure an orderly growth of the global economy.
